At Ashlow Orthodontics, our braces in Stoke-on-Trent fit many different lifestyles and treatment plans. Our translucent ceramic braces offer the full scope of treatment that you would expect from the standard metal brace but in a far more subtle and covert way!
One of our roles as an orthodontist is to offer the best treatment options available. We can’t do this without having a wide range in the first place! That’s why we offer everything from the standard metal price ceramic options that are very similar to the braces we all know installed on the back of your teeth and invisible aligner options.
Our medical team work under the guidance of principal dentist Dr Omar Yaqoob, and whether you see Dr Yaqoob or one of the associated practitioners, our standards are of a high level, which is shared throughout the clinic. We are united by this goal of care and want to provide the most effective treatment for our patients. That said, we understand the conflict between functional treatment and effective treatments. Clear aligners on average have a longer treatment time than the standard metal brace, but many patients will prefer a longer treatment time in order to have the convenience and relative discomfort of an aligner; compromise is at the heart of good medicine and this includes orthodontic practice!
Why ceramic braces?
The ceramic brace is not a new idea. The first versions were made of glass and there have been attempts to make orthodontic tools as convenient as possible. It was this drive that led the traditional metal braces headgear in all but the most challenging misalignments.
Orthodontics made of glass obviously had their limitations; the tension required to move teeth put the glass under stress so that if it chipped, there was a good chance of it shattering. Thankfully, the modern ceramic braces in our clinic are a mixture of polymers and toughened glass and they are considered appropriate for young adults and those with highly active lifestyles.
By having clear brackets and archwires, ceramic braces are entirely translucent and from a distance often go unnoticed. Structurally, they are identical to traditional braces with exactly the same mode of action; you will still have to attend our clinic in order to have brace adjustments throughout the course of your treatment. This also means that ceramic braces in Stoke-on-Trent can treat severe misalignments that are too advanced to be corrected with invisible braces or plastic aligners with a higher success rate. So, for patients who value a more subtle and less obtrusive form of orthodontic treatment, it is a situation that calls for something more substantial than a clear aligner ceramic braces or the perfect fit.
If you are interested about whether a ceramic brace would be useful for you, please feel free to get in contact with the clinic. In order to receive a definitive answer you would have to come in for a full assessment.
Fitting and costs are comparable to our standard braces in Stoke-on-Trent. We are currently offering free consultation for adult private patients as well as having a range of zero interest financing options.
